Position Title: Counsellor, Camp Easter Seal - Seasonal, Full-Time

Brief description of available position

This position is seasonal, full-time (May 28 to August 24, 2010).

Under the direction of the Senior Counsellor, the Counsellor is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of campers at all times.  Duties include:

– Ensuring the safety and welfare of campers at all times

– Providing attendant care

– Creating an environment in which campers can experience emotional growth and development

– Ensuring campers have an enjoyable vacation

– Scheduling appropriate activities for the cabin group

– Actively participating with campers in program areas

– Documenting and reporting relevant information regarding the camper’s health and safety; includes camper reports

– Maintaining cabins and surrounding area in a neat and orderly fashion

– Under the direction of the Camp Nurse, may be responsible to distribute medication

– Other duties as specified by the Senior Counsellor

 

Experience and Qualifications

– Ability to work with people with disabilities

– Effective interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills

– Oral communication skills

– Positive attitude

The final candidates are required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

 

Compensation Information

$92.08 per day plus Room and Board
