Position Title: Metalwork Senior Supervisor - Permanent, Full-Time

Brief description of available position
The Metalwork Senior Supervisor, reporting to the Operations Manager, will be responsible for the successful operation of the Metalwork Department, including customer relations, production scheduling, quality, safety, department financial planning, and providing training and supervision for staff and clients. Duties include:
Assisting the Operations Manager with costing products, services, and obtaining and maintaining
customer contracts.
Providing leadership, supervision, and training to department staff and clients.
Assisting in staff recruitment, performance reviews, and disciplinary activities as required.
Developing annual budgets for Operations Manager’s approval.
Maintaining the department’s records including work orders, invoices, expense logs, and staff attendance.
Planning, forecasting, and scheduling production requirements to ensure that contract deadlines are met.
Reviewing area equipment and staff requirements in relation to production demands and recommending changes as required.
Maintaining the area and equipment to ensure the safety of staff and clients, as well as maximizing production.
Monitoring inventory and waste levels to ensure efficient department operations.
Coordinating and delegating area shipping and receiving activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
Journeyman Certification in welding or industrial mechanics preferred
36 months of related experience
Detailed knowledge of metal fabrication production methods, materials, equipment, and processes. Substantial electrical knowledge and mechanical ability.
Ability to read and interpret drawings to set-up and complete projects.
Good math, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Working knowledge of current good manufacturing practices, production scheduling, and materials management.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with customers, suppliers, staff, and clients
Strong supervisory skills
Effective organizational and communication skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Valid driver’s license.
WHMIS, Standard First Aid, and Forklift training are considered assets
The final candidates are required to provide satisfactory police record checks
Compensation Information
Pay Class 17 (range of $3,427 to $4,281 per month) plus comprehensive benefit package
