The Organization:

Founded in 1955 as the Lutheran Sunset Home of Saskatoon, LutherCare Communities provides excellence in care, housing, and community services within a nurturing Christian environment. 


The Position:

As the Program/Team Lead within the group home, you will be responsible for assisting residents with cognitive and physical disabilities who have high medical needs with educational, social and recreational support through organizing and carrying out planned activities.  The successful applicant will organize and supervise the implementation of programs such as recreational events, outings, entertainment, crafts, and other activities.  Responsibilities also include the encouragement and assistance that residents require to participate in such programs.


In the absence of the Group Home Coordinator, the Program Team Lead is responsible for the overall running of the group home, including overseeing staff. The Program Team Lead may be responsible for administering all medication treatments/interventions as trained by professionals as well as to ensure all staff have been trained appropriately.

The Applicants:

Applicants would qualify for this position through the completion of post secondary education in a related discipline (ie: Therapeutic Recreation, Disability Support Worker, Continuing Care Assistant etc.). Applicants must have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with cognitively and physically disabled adults in a residential or vocational setting and a minimum of one year experience working with residents with high medical needs. Applicants must have experience in the planning and implementation of programs for intellectually disabled adults in a residential setting and have the ability to operate and train in the use of the wheelchair van. Supervisory experience is required. Applicants must be comfortable in providing medical support as required. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license as well as possess or have the ability to obtain TLR, PART, CCP, SP, medication module and First Aid training.  Hours of work are not limited to day shifts as some activities and programs require evening or weekend shifts, and on-call will be shared with the Group Home Coordinator. Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English is essential.
