Direct Support Professional – Unity Group Home Activity

Location:  Unity, SK                                     Home:  Group Home #1 & #2           

Category: 2 Temporary Part Time positions of 41 hours/4 week rotation each.

Current Schedule Includes: The specific schedule of these positions will be flexible. The worker will assist in determining the schedule to optimize Participant activity. The base schedule will involve alternating Mon, Wed, Fri, Tues, Thurs shifts from 3:45 – 7pm and Sat 12:45 – 5pm. The worker will be flexible between Unity #1 & #2. These are temporary, trial positions which will end with a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.

Salary: $15.74

Start date: on or about Nov. 19, 2018             Reports to: Residential Managers

Nature of duties:  By following the established person-centered plan programs, provides support to participants in a manner that maximizes their potential and quality of life. This includes but not limited to; participant support and personal care, administering medication, maintaining a home-like atmosphere, arranging and attending events with the participants, and administrative duties. In addition, these positions will involve researching and scheduling Participant activities.

Required qualifications:

  • Must be legally able to drive agency vehicles
  • Provide Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check 
  • Must be passionate about providing adults with intellectual disabilities the highest quality of life possible.
  • Must be able to think on the go and adjust quickly to changes.
  • Must be able to research events.
  • Must be a skilled organizer, able to work with a team to develop a schedule
  • Must be skilled at documenting – activities pursued, refusals, options offered, results of activities and more.
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English.
